When I finished painting, I looked at her and said, "you are so beautiful, I couldn't have painted you". That's right. I didn't. She created herself through me. I was just an instrument of her divine creation and I am so grateful for this experience.

Annapurna Devi, Goddess of food, nutrition, health, abundance, always giving. That's why she is portrayed handing out the spoonful of rice, giving from her ever-full pot.

She is revered as the gentle divine mother, representing nurture, care, compassion, abundance. She's an avatar of Parvati. She is the goddess of food and sustenance. She ensures that no one goes hungry, everyone is nourished with love and full of health.

For me, she symbolises the perfect balance of receiving and giving.

Story has it that during the time of great cosmic turmoil, the devas (gods) were deprived of strength and vitality due to the ongoing battle with the asuras (demons). Lord Shiva guided them to Annapurna and she blessed them with an unending supply of food, revitalising the devas and restoring balance to the Universe.

For me, this is a metaphor for our internal battles. While in the human experience, it is important to look after our physical bodies, maintain our vitality with the right food, love and compassion. Not just for mere survival, but to have the vigour to face challenges. Because without health and wellbeing, we cannot face our battles with joy. Health is wealth.

Awaken your inner Annapurna with this sacred art piece.
